Cohoes caretakers

Hall of Fame

Each year the Cohoes Caretakers honor people who have made a difference in the City of Cohoes. These individuals are the unsung heroes who make Cohoes a better place to live. They are the people who give of themselves and never ask for anything in return.

There are two levels of awards. The first awards are a citywide recognition of a Police Officer, Firefighter, Public Servant and Volunteer of the Year. Members of the community will nominate these individuals.  A group of community representatives will be the selection committee. A nominating form will be available for anyone to complete and submit a name.

The second group of people honored will be individuals who have had a lifelong impact on the city. They will be made a part of the Hall of Fame. These are individuals, living or dead, that have a made a difference in the City of Cohoes. Members of the community will also nominate these individuals. The Caretakers Hall of Fame Committee will make these selections.

A permanent display is located at the Cohoes Music Hall. A wall of Honor has been established in the second floor Conference Room at the Music Hall. A plaque honoring the recipients' deeds is a part of the display. A special award is also presented to the recipient or their family.

All of the recipients are honored at a special reception. These recipients are nominated by the community and selected by the Cohoes Caretakers Hall of Fame Committee.
