For forty years Madelon K. Hickey was living rebuttal of those who contend teachers in our public school system are powerless to impart a sense of values. Hundreds of Cohoesiers who came under Miss Hickey's direction during her long span as a teacher remember her most of all for the high sense of values she taught. |

As
principal of Cohoes High School, for twenty years Madelon Hickey gave
young residents a strong sense of direction and purpose. |
|
| A determination to educate and to lead the young gave Miss Hickey her purpose in life and she fulfilled the purpose with the richness most of us can envy. Even after she moved from the Principalship to become Curriculum Administrator Miss Hickey's heart was in Cohoes High School. The was a leader in the fight for approval of the proposal to build the new school. The work of educating the young was her life mission and none who knew her question how magnificently she fulfilled that mission. |
