Sister returned to Keveny Academy, serving from 1957 to 1964. Many of her former students recalled the wonderful musical plays she directed during that time. Thus, was this Cohoes Catholic High School blessed; again!

Endowed with deep spiritual values and joy of heart, Sr. Marie Jose' zealously reached out to the people of Cohoes.

As far back as 1931, in her youth, Sister Marie taught the first class that graduated from the, then, new "Keveny Academy."

Several years later, in 1973, Sister Marie Jose' had yet another calling to Cohoes. Reverend Lawrence McTavey, pastor of St. Bernard's, having witnessed her care of the sick, made a request of Sister Elizabeth Thomas, Provincial of the Sisters of St. Joseph. That request was for Sr. Marie Jose' to begin a Ministry to the elderly in his parish. The request was fortunately granted, and sister continued this work up to the time of her death in 1992. 1998.

We, who have had the privilege of her presence among us, are rightly proud of Sisters service to Cohoes and proud, too, that she is so lovingly honored this day of November 7, 1998

Sister with Senoir Citizen..

There's no doubt that Sister gave it her all! She thoroughly loved this ministry!

Sister Marie Jose' earnestly desired to reach out as far as she possibly could, to the frail elderly in this city .

Among the hymns she loved, "How Great Thou Art," was her fondest. The closing verse reads: "When Christ shall come with shout of acclamation and take me home, what joy shall fill my heart! Then I shall bow in humble adoration and there proclaim, my God, how great thou art!" On Holy Saturday, April 18, 1992, Sister Marie Jose' Hickey realized that moment.
