As Mayor of the City of Cohoes, it is my
pleasure to welcome you to the City of Cohoes. Located just a few miles
north of the Capital City of Albany, we are at the junction point of the
Mohawk and Hudson Rivers. With major arterials as borders, it is evident
that Cohoes is one of the most accessible communities in the Capital
Region and is well positioned to capture the opportunities that abound due
to our region also known as Tech Valley.
What is it that makes Cohoes so special?
Try these opportunities on for size:
 |
History-
whether it be the Historic Harmony Mills, the Cohoes Music Hall, the
Cohoes Visitors Center or the Cohoes Falls, those in the spirit or rich
history and tourism, know that Cohoes is the place to visit.
|
 |
Transportation-
Cohoes is at the confluence of the Hudson and Mohawk Rivers as well as
three counties. New York State 787 terminates here in Cohoes and
therefore provides quick and easy access to downtown Albany (10 minutes)
plus access to the Adirondack Northway (I 87) within 5 minutes. Cohoes
is literally in the heart of all the activities and excitement that is
abundant in the Capital Region.
|
 |
Housing Opportunities-
Over the next three years, we are looking at an additional 600 units
being added to the housing market in the City.
Whether it is in the form of downtown apartments, waterfront
condominiums, single family homes or loft apartments on the river,
Cohoes has something to offer to everyone.
|
 |
Economic Opportunity-
We have finished, with the assistance of our Chamber of Commerce and
members of the downtown district, our plans for revitalization in our
core downtown. The City is committed in seeing the plans come true as we
invest in our downtown to preserve our rich architecture and history and
bring life to downtown.
|
 |
Education-
Our Cohoes City Schools as well as our Catholic School provide great
opportunities for our youth to receive the best education possible.
Academically, our students our performing at or above the levels of
students in the surrounding urban and suburban school districts.
|
 |
Quality of Life-
Isn’t that what it is all about. The City of Cohoes is one of the
safest in the Capital Region. As a community, we all know that
Character Counts, and that we need to make sure that all of our
neighborhoods are living up to its highest potential. Thanks to a city
wide effort, whether it be Neighborhood Watch, the Schools and related
organizations or the many fraternal and civic organizations, we are
pulling together to put Cohoes’ best foot forward. |
As you can see, Cohoes has a lot to offer
and it is here, waiting for you. Come and join us as we continue to make
our city, established in 1870, the best it can be. Cohoes is Moving
Forward, and we would love to have you on board!!!
